Professor Yonggang Huang Was Appointed as a Kuang-piu Lecture Profes

Recently, Joseph Cummings Professor Yonggang Huang from Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, and Department of Mechanical Engineering, Robert R. McCormick School of Engineering and Applied Science, Northwestern University, USA, was appointed as a Kuang-piu lecture professor. President Wei Yang issued an appointment certification and a university badge to him at the ceremony.
Joseph Cummings Professor Yonggang Huang graduated at Mechanics Department at Peking University in 1984, and received a PhD degree at Harvard University. He engaged in mechanics of materials and structures; fracture mechanics; composite materials; and etc. Recent year he won lots of honors and awards, such as Outstanding Young Investigator Award, National Science Foundation of China, 2000; Research Award for US Scientists and Scholars, Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, Germany, 2001; Gustus L. Larson Memorial Award and George W. Melville Medal, American Society of Mechanical Engineers, in 2003 and 2004. Young Investigator Medal, Society of Engineering Science, 2006; International Journal of Plasticity Medal, 2007; and Guggenheim Fellowship, John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation, 2008; He has published more than 220 papers.
After the ceremony, Professor Yonggang Huang gave a lecture entitled Mechanics of Stretchable Electronics on Elastomeric Substrate. Academician Kezhi Huang from Tsinghua University, who is visiting the campus, and Professor Peidong Wu from McMaster University, Canada, attended the appointment ceremony.
