On June 13, a delegation from the University of Tasmania (UTA), led by UTA Chancellor Hon. Michael Field AC, visited Graduate School of Zhejiang University. Present at the meeting were Jiang Quanyuan, Director of Graduate Academic Affairs and Wang Lizhong, Dean of Ocean College of ZJU.

Jiang Quanyuan extended his cordial welcome to the UT delegation and gave a brief introduction of ZJU Graduate Education. Wang Lizhong introduced the current mission and future development of Ocean College of ZJU and hoped that ZJU will cement ties with UTA, particularly with the Ocean College in high-ranking subjects and fields, for example, Earth and Marine Sciences, thereby making joint contributions to China’s development and talent cultivation.

Hon. Michael Field AC expressed his hope that the two universities will promote partnership in scientific research, disciplinary construction and talent cultivation in a more precise and focused manner.

According to the conversation, the Ocean Colleges from ZJU and UTA will organize bilateral seminars in September this year in Zhoushan with the aim to further promote mutual understanding between professors from both universities and to build a platform for cooperation in scientific research, joint polar expedition and talent cultivation.
